    Description

    This clutch is a bit different than others on the market. First, it is a very heavy duty tapping head. It supports up to 1-1/8" bottoming tap. Here's how it works. Place the head into any MT 4 fixture such as your tailstock. Position the work just in front of the tapping head. Pull the tapping head into the work with the spindle running at low, tapping speed. The tapping head is spring loaded allowing the head and tailstock to separate as the tapping head enters the work. If tapping a thru hole simply stop and reverse the spindle when appropriate. If bottom tapping, the head clutch will engage and allow enough time for you to stop and reverse the spindle and the tap backs out of the work. I'm not sure the HP rating required to draw an 1-1/8 tap into steel but it's likely more than 5HP. This is for a larger machine.
